Trash Collection

Trash collection procedures and requirements are explained in detail within the Playmor Bernardo Rules and Information Booklet. Please consult the Rules and Information Booklet for complete details. The following summary is provided for your convenience.

City trash collection normally takes place on Tuesday between 7:00 am and 4:00 PM. A city holiday on Monday or Tuesday will delay trash pickup until Wednesday. Holidays on other days of the week will have no effect on Tuesday trash collection. Trash containers must be left in the designated red curb areas. Trash should be set at the curb no earlier than 5:00 PM the night before trash pickup day. Cans placed in the street early will be returned to the unit's front door step and the owner will be charged a $50 trash can return fee.

The HOA expects you to retrieve your can as early as possible after pickup but not later than the evening of the pickup day. Trash cans may never be left in the common area, including on your patio gate step or by your garage door. If they are, they will be placed on your front door step for a $50 fee.

If you have not retrieved your trash container and it remains on the street until the morning after pick up, the HOA will return your trash container to your door step. This service is provided for a $50 charge.

If the lid on your trash can is not closed, a portion of the trash tends to spill on Playmor streets during the dumping process. If maintenance personnel are forced to retrieve from an overfilled can to prevent the spill, that owner will also be charged the $50 trash removal fee.

Do you regularly find that you have more trash than will fit in your can? Please be responsible for it. You may call the City of San Diego Disposal Services at 694-7000 and request a larger can. The city of San Diego offers 3 sizes of trash containers: 32, 64 and 96 gallons. If you need an additional trash can, the city can accommodate that request as well. Check with them for details.

Playmor Bernardo will impose a trash pickup fee on owners to remove trash refused by city sanitation workers.

The Playmor dumpster is exclusively for use of lawn waste such as grass and shrubbery clippings. Playing personal trash in the dumpster incurs additional costs to dump that trash. Please do not use the Playmor dumpster for your personal trash.

The Miramar Landfill at 5165 Convoy St. in San Diego accepts large volumes of trash. They are open seven days a week (except for holidays). Contact the landfill facility at (858) 694-7000 for more information.

Playmor Bernardo fully supports compliance with local, state and federal environmental requirements. We strongly discourage dumping environmentally hazardous material in trash or down storm drains. Please act responsibly.
